Spring 1 week 4

30 Jan 2023

Spring Term Week 4

This half-term is just whizzing by!

English
This week we have worked towards writing a set of instructions about how to cross the road safely. We have practised using time conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions and imperative (bossy) verbs.

Maths
We have undertaken a week of practising mental and practical skills related to money. We have counted in 2s, 5s and 10s, recognised coins and their value, made specific amounts and used hundred squares to assist with calculations involving money. Your child has been given a 'money' workbook that they can complete at home with you. It is recommended that physical, practical coins are used to support them with their activities. The answers are at the back, so there is no need to return these to school!

Art
We created our own version of Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night', focusing on using brushes of different thicknesses to create an impactful image.

Science
We matched 'adult' animals to their offspring in our unit of work related to life cycles.

NoticesYear 2's shared learning afternoon is on Tuesday 31st of January. One adult is permitted per child and children will be allowed to go home with their adult at the end of the session. Please convene in the foyer to be let in by the office staff after the children have completed their afternoon registration.

Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name. We have increasing numbers of children losing items of clothing and looking for them will no longer be done by staff. It will be your child's responsibility to locate missing items of clothing outside of lesson time.

PE will still be on Thursday afternoons this term, so please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit to school on this day.

Times Table Rockstars challenges have been set for every child (2, 5 and 10 times tables). It is expected that children log in each week several times and practise. Your child's login information is stuck in their reading record.
