Spring Term 1 Week 6

Miss Booth - 09 Feb 2024

This week we had Safer Internet Day in school.

These are this week's notices:
  • Thank-you to all who have so kindly volunteered to accompany us on our educational visit to Colchester Castle. We will be notifying the parents who have been selected on Monday.
  • We currently have another visit booked for the Summer term to Southend Beach and the Sealife Centre. Information about this will be sent to you nearer the time.

Maths
We have continued our block of Multiplication and Divison, focusing specifically on multiplying and dividing by 2, 5 and 10.

To support your child's learning, please ensure they are regularly accessing Times Table Rockstars at home, and please monitor the speed at which they answer questions. A time of under six seconds per question is the expected standard. All children now have access to the 2, 5 and 10 times tables in the garage mode.

Children who are not fluent with these times tables will struggle to pass their assessments in May.

English
We have concluded writing our narratives. Next week we will be completing a short poetry unit.

Science
We studied the life cycle of a butterfly and used the corrrect vocabulary of larva and crysallis. We then compared the life cycle to a human life cycle and noted down the similarities and differences.

Safer Internet Day

We looked at how music players, telephones, games consoles and computers have changed over time. We also had a go at imagining what these may look like in the future. KS1 also went to a special Safer Internet Day assembly.
