Miss Burgess Update 14/01/22

14 Jan 2022

This week in Nursery, we have been learning lots about animals!

We have had conversations about what different animals look like and what noises they make. Our story of the week was, ‘Dear Zoo’. The children loved this story and also loved the following animated version, where they imitated the noises from each animal we even moved around the classroom like these animals; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx-pZoIDQ_4

For our phonics we have been focusing on rhythm and rhyme. We have spent time matching words that sound the same (rhyming pairs), copying movements and listening to rhyming books where the children were eager to join in with familiar phrases. Some children were even able to spot the rhyming pairs. To continue this learning at home, please see the information sheet below with some ideas;

One day this week, we were lucky enough to have Coach come in for a little while and take us into the hall where we played some games and did some races.

Lastly, we have enjoyed doing some painting and craft activities this week. We are working together to make some beautiful collage images of animals so we can decorate our classroom with them ahead of our animal day in February. Please see homework map and information for dates regarding animal day.

Enjoy looking over the pictures below and have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Burgess 😊
