Week 3 Summer 2 5S
20 Jun 2025
Well done for another great week, Year 5! It has been very hot!
This week, in Science, we began our topic for British Science Week. The theme is 'change and adapt'. During this lesson, we looked at where various foods are grown around the world, and then we used Google Maps to research the miles that food would have travelled to reach our local area. The pupils enjoyed talking about what food they grow at home in thier gardens.
In Geography, we have begun our topic 'Investigating Our World'. The first lessons have consisted of using Ordnance Survey maps, and recapping our skills from Year 4 where we learnt about contour lines. We also recappped how to use six-figure grid references, and we practised finding different places on the maps, and found the grid reference for each.
In PSHE, we had a fun afternoon looking at Healthy Eating, and the class all got to make their own healthy snack. In Year 5, we made guacamole and had it with some tortilla chips. The children did a brilliant job of cutting the fruit and vegetables up, and mashing the avocado to the correct consistency.
We also had Sport's Day! The class did an amazing job, were very sensible and tried their absolute hardest. We are so proud of them!
Happy weekend.
