Welcome Back to Our Final Half Term of Year 1!
We’ve had a fantastic start to this final half term, full of exciting learning opportunities across all subjects.
In English, the children have been inspired by the video The Girl with the Yellow Bag. They’ve enjoyed using noun phrases to describe settings and objects while planning their own stories.
In maths, we continued our work on fractions, focusing on finding quarters of quantities. We've also begun a new topic on position and direction, which the children are engaging with enthusiastically.
Our new science unit is themed around this year’s Science Week topic, Change and Adapt. To kick it off, we explored the story of The Three Little Pigs and put our breath power to the test by blowing Maltesers across the hall!
In geography, the children used Google Earth to explore aerial images and were able to identify both human and physical features from around the world. Their curiosity took them far and wide!
In RE, we discussed the concept of belonging. It was heart-warming to hear the children talk about places where they feel they belong—many mentioned both their homes and Brady Primary School.
During our computing lesson, we practised using the drawing and fill tools in Paintzap and learned how to save our work—a great step in developing digital independence.
Finally, you will have received this half term’s newsletter and homework map in your child’s bag today. Please take a moment to review these, as they contain key information and dates for the busy weeks ahead.

Thank you for your continued support!
