Week 2 Spring 2 5S

07 Mar 2025

Well done for a brilliant week, Year 5.

This week, in Maths, we completed our unit on decimals and percentages. The children have done very well in this unit, with their scores in their end of unit maths assessment reflecting this! To complete our unit, we converted between percentages, decimals and fractions, understanding that 1/4 is equal to 25%.

For our Science lessons, we began our new topic Living Things and their Habitats. We have had a great start to this unit, as the children have a lot of prior knowledge. We introduced new concepts such as life cycles and talked about vocabulary such as egg and hatchling. We compared the life cycles of mammals, birds and amphibians, and looked at the similarities and differences.

This week we also celebrated World Book Day! It was such a fantastic day, and it was amazing to see all the effort that the children (and parents!) had put into their costumes. Thank you to all of the adults who came to join us for the reading session in the morning :)

Happy weekend!
