English
In English this week we have been writing our own newspaper article on Beowulf’s victory over Grendel. We have made sure that we include direct and indirect speech and a range of subordinate clauses. We have also spent time carefully editing our writing. Next week we will start a new genre of writing – non-chronological reports.
Maths
For Maths this week we continued our work on place value. We have been comparing and ordering numbers to one million and rounding numbers within 100000. Next week we will be finishing our unit on place value and beginning our work on addition and subtraction.
Science
We have continued our work on properties of materials this week and looked at the hardness of a range of materials. We tested the hardness by scratching the materials with different items.
