Spring 1 Week 5
06 Feb 2026
Year 1 have had a great week!
English
In English, we have been working on writing a report. We have written sentences using conjuctions and focused on the book 'the caterpillar shoes'. Children have been collecting information by discussing and using books to research to write their final report next week. Children have learnt about different sections of a report such as appearance, diet, habitat and other facts. Children have learnt how to sort information into each section.
Maths
This week in maths we have started subtraction. Children have began using numberlines to subtract and have learnt key vocab such as 'one less than', and problem solving questions e.g. Max had 12 cakes. He gave away 2, how many is left?'.
RE
In RE this week, we have looked at the parable 'the lost sheep'. Children have been learning about what the story means to Christians and what lessons it teaches. Children have also looked at stained glass windows, where they are found and how they are made. The children really enjoyed making their own!
Science
We did some bird watching for science this week in our school playground. The children were able to identify birds, collect information and label them.
Shared learning
Thank you for joining us for shared learning. The children really enjoyed themselves and we hope that you did too!
Have a great weekend!
