Summer 1 Week 3

03 May 2024

Well done for another great week, 4S.

This week, in English, the children completed their final drafts of their Setting Descriptions. To get to this point, the children completed a first draft, which they then edited following feedback from myself and their peers. After they had completed their edits, they then wrote their final draft. We had some brilliant pieces of writing, with lots of description and ambitious vocabulary being used.

In Reading, we have been working on our summary, vocabulary and inference skills. We are now up to Chapter 5 of our novel 'King of the Cloud Forests', and the children are showing a real interest and engagement in the book. The class have done a great job of summarising the main parts of the story do far, and making inferences about the characters in the book.

In Science, we have been focussing on what conservation is and how our planet is being impacted by the actions of humans. This includes deforestation and air pollution. The children have thught of some great ideas on what we can do to help protect our planet, especially animals.

A massive thank you to everyone who came to our Shared Learning on Wednesday. It was great to see so many people there, and the children loved it.

Happy weekend.
