Reception Week 3

Mrs Divall - 18 Jan 2023

This week we have been learning about “prehistoric mammals.”  We have read Julia Donaldson’s story “Cave Baby” and talked about the animals we could see in the illustrations.  We made a timeline, discussing dinosaurs to prehistoric mammals to animals today.  The children have found it really interesting discussing how a woolly mammoth is similar to todays elephant etc.

The children have been really enjoying maths.  We have been learning to compose number sentences to 5.  One way we did this was by playing throw the beanbags in the hoop, we recommend this game at home it was fun 😊

Your child is welcome to bring 20p in their coat pocket for snack money at playtime if they would like to purchase a biscuit.  This is not compulsory.  Please do not put the money in their bags, as they don’t take their bags outside to play with them.

Please ensure you label all uniform including PE Kit.  A little boy in RD has lost his black (named) hoodie from PE last week, he went home wearing a navy hoodie which his family have returned.  Please carefully check whether you have accidentally got this item of clothing at home and return it whenever possible.

Please ensure you ask us for a school trip letter if yours has been misplaced or forgotten.
Your child comes home with a reading record and reading book.  Every time you read with your child, you must sign the reading record, it is part of our home school agreement – supporting your child’s reading is extremely important.  We will be sending home Qr codes of Read Write inc lessons from Friday to support this home learning too.

If you are unsure how to upload homework to the website, for the meantime please email office@brady.havering.sch.uk and it will be forwarded to us.  We are looking to send out a letter with instructions for how to upload directly onto the website.
