1ST Summer 2 Week 5
Mrs Staples - 04 Jul 2025
Happy Friday everyone!
This week, the children have really enjoyed writing their information texts in English. They focused on the four seasons, paying special attention to using adjectives, nouns, expanded noun phrases, and suffixes such as -er, -ing, and -est. The children took great pride in creating a polished, published version of their work to take home — we hope you enjoyed reading their fantastic writing!
In maths, the children have been finishing up their work on money and have started a new unit about time. This week, they explored concepts like before, after, and the days of the week. Next week, we will focus on months and o'clock times.
In science, the children examined different shaped ears and discussed whether these shapes help us to hear better. We also used the traditional tale of Little Red Riding Hood as a basis for our lesson, linking storytelling with scientific discussion.
In DT, the children learned about how to prepare food safely. They chose to make a salad, which they will complete in next week’s lesson. Please remember to send in a Tupperware box with your child's name labelled.
Our history lesson was all about first-hand historical enquiry. The children participated in a hot seat activity, taking on the roles of Victorian teachers and pupils, which helped them understand life during that time period.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
