1ST Summer 1 Week 5
Mrs Staples - 23 May 2025
We have had a great final week of this half term.
We dedicated plenty of time to practicing our phonics through various activities, including whole-class sessions, small group work, and one-on-one support.
In English, the children created ‘Lost’ posters for Beegu, adding detailed labels and writing short paragraphs that described Beegu using a variety of adjectives. They also made meaningful connections between the stories they read and their own experiences on the playground. The children then added speech bubbles to images of the playground scene, carefully considering what each character might say.
In maths, we focused on understanding halves—finding half of objects, shapes, and quantities. We also explored quarters, learning to recognise and identify quarters of shapes and objects.
In geography, the children learned about different types of settlements, including villages, towns, and cities, and their key features.
A big thank you for the support of our Victorian Day on Wednesday. The children had an incredible day, engaging in activities such as playing with Victorian toys, excavating Victorian artefacts like archaeologists, making their own Victorian peg dolls, and experiencing a Victorian classroom. They also learned many fascinating facts about the Victorian era. The particular favourite being the poop facts!
Have a restful break and we will see you for our final half term of the academic year!
