1ST Spring 1 week 2

Mrs Staples - 17 Jan 2025

What a busy couple of weeks we have had! The children have settled back into school really well.

English
In English, we have written some fantastic setting descriptions based on the book, The Lion and the Mouse. The children used adjectives, plural nouns and verbs using the suffix ‘ing’. We will continue this beautiful writing with our character descriptions, next week.

Maths
In maths, we have been learning our place value to 20. The children have been able to successfully, identify how many tens and ones are in all the numbers from 10-20 – well done Year 1!

Other
In science, the children continued exploring their senses by completing a senses walk. We went into the playground and identified many things that we can see, hear, smell, touch and taste.

In history, the children explored timelines and were able to correctly identify the human life cycle from baby through to the elderly. We will continue this work next week with the family tree. Thank you in advance for your help in completing this with your child, we would like the sheets back in school by Wednesday, ready for our lesson.

In art, the children created some stunning self-portraits using collage materials. These are proudly displayed in our classroom.

Reminder:
Monday 22nd January – return the family tree by this date please.
Thursday 6th February – school closed.
