1ST Autumn 2 week 4

Another great week in Year 1.
English
This week in English, we have learnt about The Jolly Postman. The children were very excited to hear all about the letters he delivered. During our lessons this week we have learnt about first person pronouns, written sentences in the first person and identified some proper nouns.
Maths
In maths, we have been practising our subtraction skills and we have finished our week with an end of unit assessment. These will continue into next week.
Other
In science, we continued looking at different materials and objects. The children explored different materials suitable for a space nappy! We performed an exciting experiment to test absorption. It was a very exciting lesson and we identified that cotton wool was the most absorbent material we tested.
In geography, we explored landmarks in our nearest city, London. We then created a London skyline image to display in our classroom.
We have also spent lots of time practising our nativity songs and actions. The children have been working really hard to remember these – well done!
