Space & The Solar System! Week 3

This week we have begun to learn all about Space! We have learnt the key word “orbit” and we acted out the solar system to learn that all of the planets orbit the sun. We have been making rockets and talking about what we see in the night sky, as well as what we think there is in Space. We have been reading lots of fiction and non-fiction books about Space and the Solar System.
In maths we have been learning to count backwards to blast off from 20-1. Later in the week, we will be recapping our knowledge of repeating patterns and ordering numbers backwards and forwards from 1-10.
In phonics we will have learnt 4 new sounds by the end of this week- g, o, c, k. We are also practising 5 red words- the, to, a, he, she. The children drew and labelled planets in their books this week and we were so proud of them for hearing and writing the initial sounds and even some short captions too.
