Reception Aut 2 Week 1

This week we have been learning all about Diwali. We were super lucky that Mrs Vohra and Mrs Degun’s mum – Mrs Bhambra, came to tell us all about their own families celebrations. They told us about the special food and sweets, lights and decorations. We have dressed up Miss Skelton in a beautiful sari! We have been making diva lamps out of clay, painting mehndi patterns and creating Rangoli patterns too.
In maths, we have been learning to count and form the numbers 1,2,3 correctly. We have been referring lots to the numberblocks – check out the cbeebies Numberblocks Make and Play game. In phonics, we have been learning sh, r, j, v, y. We have been reading 3 letter words and many of us are now able to read the words almost independently! We will be sending home a paper ditty sheet alongside the phonics homework sheets for your child to practise reading over the weekend 😊
