Miss Bowden - 20 Mar 2026

Well done year 3 for a brilliant week at school!

We have been very busy this week! In maths, we have moved onto our new topic of mass and capacity. We have been relating these skills to real life problems such as using scales! If you would like to help with this topic at home then we would recommend lots of baking using scales to measure in grams – enjoy all your yummmy treats!

In English, we are going to be writing a blog post based on our text ‘ Gregory Cool’ next week. We have gone over past perfect tense again to hopefully feel more confident when it comes to our writing next week!
In shared reading, we have finished our text of ‘The pebble in my pocket’, looking at the journey of a pebble from the beginning of time.

In geography this week, we have been learning about earthquakes and the different key terms related to this.
In science this week, we looked at how fossils develop over time and found the process very interesting! We recommend a trip to the Natural History Museum over Easter if this is something your child is interested in as they have lots of amazing fossils!

We had a lovely afternoon creating mosque boxes to celebrate Eid.

As always, please continue to read 5 times a week and play on TTRS 5 times for a minimum of 5 minutes each time. Please see attached for the spellings this week.

Reminder:

A trip letter has gone home about our visit to Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve next half term, payment and permission slips do not need to come back in until after Easter but we are accepting them now. Payments are payable on parent pay or cash. We are also looking for parent volunteers to support us on this trip, if you would like to volunteer, please speak to your class teacher.

Also, the Easter egg competition is next Thursday. If you would like to participate, please decorate your egg at home and bring this in before Thursday to be a part of the exhibition.

Last reminder, school clsoes at 1:15 on Friday 27th March (next week) ready for the start of our Easter holidays.

Have a lovely weekend!
