Year 4P - Miss Pillai Class News

Well done year 4 for completing another week!
 
This week in English, we have started our new topic on poetry. The children looked at a WAGOLL of a poem and we went through the key features as a class. Our 2 skills for this topic are metaphors and rhyming words. We have written a playscript where they had used these 2 skills. Next week they will start planning their poem which will be on an animal of their choice.
 
In maths, we have now finished our addition and subtraction topic. We are doing revision lessons on some of the harder topics such as rounding, adding and subtracting using column method. Our next Maths topic after half term will be area.
 
In shared reading, we have looked at two poems called ‘ the crocodile’ and ‘the eagle’/ Children used their inference and retrieval skills to answer questions about this poem.
 
In R.E, we have looked at Tikkun Olam which means ‘repair the world’. We discussed ways we could look after our world and what we could do at home/ in school.
On Friday afternoon we had our Diwali afternoon. This was a lot of fun and a big thankyou to the parents who came today to help/ answer questions.
 
As always, please ensure that your child is reading 5 x a week and going on TTRS 3 x a week.

Reading books are changed on Friday and the children need to have atleast 5 reads for that book and be able to answer questions about it before it can be changed.
