7.7.25 - 11.7.25

11 Jul 2025

We had a lovely trip to Rainham Hall this week where we looked for minibeasts in the garden, played games and ate our snacks together! The whole of year 2 were very sensible on this trip and we are very proud of their behaviour!

English
This week in english we finished writing our invitations to our teddy bears to join our picnic. The children were very excited to take these home to give to their teddy bears. Then we began looking at features of a letter as this will help the children write their own letter to their year 3 teacher. Next week, we will look at different sentence types we could include in our letter such as questions, statements, commands and exclamation sentences.

Maths
This week in maths the children have been consolidating their knowledge of place value, understanding how to represent numbers with tens and ones. Next week, we will practice our column addition and subtraction skills.

Topic
In science this week, we have created our own flower bombs for the garden which the children really enjoyed doing! In geography, we learnt about erosion by using a model cliff made with sand and watching the waves of the sea slowly erode the cliffs and cause damage. We learnt about the best ways to protect against erosion such as building a sea wall.
