11.10.24

Miss Bates - 11 Oct 2024

Well done year 4 for completing another week!

In English this week, we have finished our instructions topic. The pupils have created their instructions on how to make a Roman shield. We have also started our new English topic which will be poetry, this topic will continue until the end of this half term. We have read the poem ‘The Eagle and The Crocodile’ in preperation for this.

In maths this week, we have been focussing on subtracting 4-digit numbers with one exchange and more than one exchange. We have focused on the skills of exchanging across columns and have looked at spotting errors in our working out.

In art this week, the pupils have finished their design of their geometric tiles. They have painted them using Islamic art colour schemes and have taken these home with them today along with their Roman shields.

In history this week, the pupils have learnt about a significant leader called King Athelstan. They have used different sources of information to create a biography about him.

In science this week, we have looked at water evaporation and for our experiment, we placed wet tissues around the room to see which ones would dry the fastest.

New spellings have been sent home today along with the scores for their test today.
