This week the children have been learning about the features of Kennings poems. They have learned how to turn a verb into a noun using the suffix -er. They have also been learning about alliteration and onomatopeia. The children really enjoyed creating posters for Bonfire Night including onomatopeia for firework sounds, as well as coming up with silly alliterating sentences!
Maths
This week the children have been learning about column method for 3 digits. They have been adding and exchanging in the hundreds and tens column. They have also been learning how to subtract a 2 and 3 digit number from another 3 digit number, regrouping when necessary.
Foundation
In Geography this week, the children learned about intercardinal points on a compass, and used this skill to help them read a map and follow directions. In Science, the children have been learning about friction and how it can impact the speed with which objects travel down a ramp.
