Another busy week in Y6!

 

English

In English we have continued our work on narrative writing and have looked at how to build tension and atmosphere using short sentences. We have also looked at how to describe the weather to create mood. 

 

Maths

For Maths we have been looking at using our knowledge of angles in a triangle and quadrilateral to calculate missing values. We have been using ruler and protractors to draw shapes accurately and have been learning about the different parts of a circle.

Science

In Science we looked at how to use scientific symbols when accurately drawing electrical ciucuits.

This week in Year 6...

 

English

This week in English we have been looking at the film clip “Alma” and have been looking at how imagery can be used in writing. We have also looked at how characters show their emotions and how this can be described in writing.

 

Maths

For Maths we have started our unit on angles and have looked at how to calculate angles in a range of triangles and how vertically opposite angles are equal. We have been using out prior knowledge of angles to measure and classify different angles.

 

Science

In Science we have started learning about electricity. We revised our understanding of how electricity works and made a range of circuits with different components.

English
This week in English we have completed a final draft of our narrative. We have also started looking at our next genre of writing – explanation texts.
 
Maths
In Maths we have continued our work on percentages and looked at how to calculate percentages of amounts. We have also started our next unit of learning on area and perimeter.
 
Science
For Science we looked at the components of blood and their purpose. We made our own blood sample using every day items.
