Year 3 Summer 1 Week 6
Well done year 3 for a brilliant week at school!
We have been very busy this week finishing off our maths topic of 'time' and preparing for our new topic after half term: 'shape'. We have also had a fantastic time celebrating National Numeracy Day where we answered the question 'How many times in a minute?' and completed different activities such as jumping, cube building, writing our names etc.
In English this week, we have finished our battle cry speech from the perspective of Boudicca, focusing on using rule of three and imperative verbs to make those listening want to go to battle with us. We also had a brilliant time reading these out to the rest of the class, using our oracy skills to bring these speeches to life!
In science this week, we went on a seed hunt! We scoured the school grounds to find different types of seeds and drew these in our books - we found lots more than we expected!
We had a brilliant time completing our orienteering day which involved us working our way through cones and using a map of the school to locate different numbers and corresponding letters.
Please see attached some pictures from our fun week at school as well as our spellings for the week we are back from half term!
We hope you have a lovely week off and we will see you back at school on Tuesday 2nd June!
Year 3 Summer 1 Week4
Well done for a lovely short week at school, Year 3!
In maths this week, we started our new topic of Time, where we have been looking at Roman numerals to 12 as well as telling the time to the nearest five minutes. (Keep checking your clocks at home to see if you can tell everyone the time!)
In English, we completed our own newspaper reports about the volcano eruption in Pompeii. Next week, we will be moving on to writing a biography of Boudica.
In science, we learned about pollination and how plants are pollinated by insects.
Today in DT, we had a great time using clamps, saws and hot glue guns to create our very own mini greenhouses.
As always, please continue to read five times a week and play on TTRS five times for five minutes at a time.
Have a wonderful weekend. See you all on Monday!
Year 3 Summer 1 Week 3
Well done, Year 3, for another amazing week at school.
In maths this week, we finished off our Money topic, where we learnt how to add and subtract money as well as work out how much change we should get. Next week, we will be moving into our topic of Time.
In English, we have been looking at newspaper reports and the features they include. We had lots of fun interviewing each other and working on our inverted commas for speech. Next week, we will be writing our own newspaper reports on the events from Escape to Pompeii.
In science this week, we continued our work on plants and conducted an experiment to see how water is transported through a plant’s stem.
We had an amazing time on our trip last week, and the children were extremely well behaved.
As always, please continue to read five times a week and play on TTRS five times for five minutes at a time.
Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend. See you all on Tuesday!
