Reception Summer 2 Week 1
Welcome back!
This week in Maths, we have started learning about doubling. The pupils have been exploring how adding two of the same numbers together creates a double. They have really enjoyed identifying and making doubles in a variety of ways and have shown great enthusiasm during our activities. Next week, we will be learning about repeating patterns and creating some of our own.
In Topic, we have begun our exciting new topic, 'Marvellous Machines'. We started by identifying products that use electricity to help them work and discussed how different machines do different things. We explored how a microwave works and talked about some of the foods we can cook or heat up in one. The pupils particularly enjoyed watching popcorn being heated in the mircrowave and listening carefully as it popped! Next week, we will be looking at machines from the past.
Today, we also had a very exciting assembly with a visit from Fizz Pop. The pupils watched a variety of fascinating bubble experiments and were amazed by what they saw. They enjoyed learning all about bubbles and were eager to learn more.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to another week of learning and fun.

Reception Summer 1 Week 5
Well done for another amazing week Reception!
This week we have been learning about sharing and grouping. Everyone could confidently share objects equally and group objects making sure they have the same amount in each group. Next week, we will be focusing on doubles and learning that a double is by adding the same numbers together.
In Topic this week we read the story of 'The enormous turnip'. We sequenced the story using picture cards and made sure they were in chronological order. Pupils used words such as; first, next, then and finally.
We discussed what characters were in the story and used adjectives to describe the turnip. Pupils then wrote sentences in their books about the turnip. Well done everyone!

Well done for a great week everyone!
This week in Maths, we explored positional language to describe where objects are located. The pupils worked collaboratively in groups, moving objects and using vocabulary such as; beside, next to, in, on and between.
In Topic, we learned about different types of machines and the important jobs they do. We looked at diggers, trucks, and tractors discussing their names, features, and purposes. The pupils then drew their favourite machines and wrote captions to describe them.
As part of Science Week, we focused on habitats and how our actions can affect them. The pupils took part in an exciting investigation, sorting through poulluted sand and water to think about the impact of litter and pollution on wildlife. Pupils then designed and created their own habitats using recycled materials.
We finished the week with a very exciting Sports Day! All of the pupils took part showing excellent determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of everyone for trying their best and having fun throughout the day. Well done, Reception!
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
