Year 2A 26.03.2026
Year 2 have had an increadibly busy week this week focussing on all of our spring and easter celebrations. We have had so much fun and I am sure the children are looking forward to their long awaited easter holidays!
In English this week, we have concluded our big write looking at the book Zog by Julia Donaldson and children wrote fantastic character descriptions about Zog's appearance and personality. Children brought together all of their knowledge of successful descriptive writing that they had learnt and practised throughout the year so far to put together some very nice work! Children have also been focussing on grammar and punctuation, looking at the progressive tenses and how apostrophes are used for contractions.
In maths, chidlren have been focussing hard on their tricky fractions unit and have made lots of progress. Understanding halfs, thirds and quarters has been good and chidlren have now delved into unit and non unit fractions. While numerators and denominators still needs some time to settle, the children are working hard!
This week has commenced our easter celebrations including our shared learning. Thank you so much to all the parents who came to support their child as we had worked through esater related activities. The chidlren had so much fun and couldn't stop taking about how happy it made them! We took lots of time this week exploring easter themed arts and crafts as well as exploring the reason for easter in our RE unit and why this is so significant to Christians. Children also took part in an easter egg hunt and they also got to meet the easter bunny!
From the year 2, we wish you a great easter break, and we look forward to welcoming you all back into our final term of the year!
