Week 5

07 Feb 2019

Literacy

This week in year 5, we have started reading Macbeth. The children watched an animated version and then recounted the main events of the plot. The children also had an opportunity to perform a child friendly version of the play - Aman and David V made very convincing leading males! The children have been fantastic in discussing the characters of the play, and how they develop as the story progresses.

Maths

In maths, we have been revisiting formal methods for division and multiplication. The children worked extremely hard at this but some found division quite the challenge! The children were very good at multiplication. All can multiply a 4 digit number by a 1 digit number and almost all can successfully multiply by 2 digits too.

Topic

This week has been internet safety week. The children have been working with Mr East to ensure they know how to access the internet safely. The children looked at the meaning of spam and how to spot spam in messages and emails. They also looked at what would make a secure password and had a go at creating their own passwords, and creating hints which would not give the whole password away.
