Year 3 Week 6
04 Apr 2019
Literacy
This week we have started to look at the features of a non-chronological report. The children will be writing a report about the Stone Age, using all the interesting facts that they have learned throughout our topic. To begin, the children identified the areas of the Stone Age that they were most interested in then researched these areas further to ensure that they have lots of interesting information to include. Once they had gathered their research, they planned their writing. Next week, the children will be writing their drafts ready to complete a hot write.
Maths
In maths we have been recapping the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They have been using a written method to support their working out. Additional practice has been sent home for your child. Next week, we will be recapping telling the time to the nearest minute.
Topic
The children have created some brilliant pictures this week of Stonehenge. We began by learning about Stonehenge before using watercolours to paint a sunset background and adding silhouettes of the stones using black card. You can see some of their pictures below which I was really impressed with and they were too!
