Things to know this week in Reception
Mrs Divall - 28 Sep 2015
Hi all,
Hope you have had a lovely weekend!
This week a few more of our 'normal' routines start.
Please ensure that your child brings the following to school :
Brady bookbag with reading book every day (we will change books once a week – Blue Group Mondays, Yellow Group Tuesdays, Red Group Wednesdays and Green Group Thursdays) These books are for you to read at least 3 times a week with your child. They are very repetitive to build your child's confidence with speaking out loud and turning pages. You will notice at the front of your child's reading book a reward sheet. This is for school staff to sign only. We will sign 1 box per comment you make on your child's reading. We should be able to sign a minimum of 3 times per week. Your child will enjoy these rewards and gain lots from the reading practise, so please ensure you do this.
On Friday, we will send home a Brady Homework folder which must be handed in every Thursday and sent home again every Friday – we will put a WOW certificate in here for parents to fill out, also information about what we have been learning this week and a simple activity based on this learning for you to try at home. At present, this compulsary homework should not take longer than 10 minutes, so please do not panic about this! I will sometimes add other suggestions which are not compulsary, I will make this clear.
Just in case you are wondering what colour group your child is in: (please note these groups were decided randomly so please dont read to much into which colour group your child is!!)
Blue - Toby, Joban, Chris-Marvin, Alfie Cook, Lucy, Italia, Trinity, Terry
Yellow - Alfie M, Noah, Sean, Domas, David, Jay, Camron, Max R
Red - Liya, Sam, Adeloa, Lily, Callum, Ruby, George
Green - Max G, Daisy, Harry, Karah, Maisie, Luke
This week we are learning about dinosaurs. We will be reading from the Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaur books. Exciting activities, including discovering fossils and wrapping up presents for the dinosaurs birthday will feature this week.
We will be learning a SOUND 'phoneme' a day in phonics (m, a, s, d) this week. We will be distingishing words that begin with each sound. Please, when you practise with your child, do not confuse the letter NAME with the SOUND. I will run a workshop the first week back after half term to explain this in further detail, once your child has learned some sounds.
Finally, we will be visiting the Brady library in small groups on Tuesday afternoons with Miss Hopkins. Your children will choose a book to bring home with them, keeping this book for a week. This book must be returned on a Tuesday, otherwise your child will not be able to swap it for a new one that week.
Sorry for all the information. I hope it makes sense!! Let me know if you have any questions.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Divall
