Chinese New Year
08 Feb 2018
We are practicing our fine motor skills here. Using pickers to pick up the pins and put them in the correct colour pot.
We are reading simple sentences! We have all been working hard in our phonic groups to revise our learnt sounds and apply these in our reading and writing. Our new red words we have learnt are you, what, want. Please practice these at home.
In maths this week we have been learning all about measurement. We have been using vocabulary and participating in activities involving length, height and weight. We decided to see how many cubes long the carpet is!
Our topic of the week has been learning all about Chinese New Year. We've really enjoyed learning about how it is celebrated, and about all of the animals too. Here, we are ribbon dancing!
We enjoyed ribbon dancing so much we had a go in PE, imitating each animal in the Chinese New Year story.
It's been a fun week of learning and it's not over yet! This afternoon we are going to be learning about Pancake Day and decorating our own, with yummy toppings!
Children are extremely excited about the disco tonight, the adults in Reception are all looking forward to it too!
Tomorrow is the last day before half term. It's hard to believe we are half way through the year already! We wish you a restful week off. See you back on Mon 19th Feb :)
