The Lion & The Mouse
19 Jan 2018
This week in Reception we have been counting dominoes to match them...
Learning about symmetry in maths...
More symmetry...
We learnt about the habitats of mice and lions at part of our topic work. We decided to write letters to a mouse to come and visit us...
Then we made a mouse nest using straw and twigs. We left our letters there hoping the mouse would read them...
In PE we practiced rolling and throwing balloons with a partner...
We really enjoyed learning about symmetry...
Here we discussed what "independence is" and we met Slim, the independent banana! We were brave and drew and wrote different things independently on our white boards. We spoke about what we can do independently. Lots of children told me they can get dressed and do their brush all by themselves!
We wrote a sound on a balloon and had to go around with a friend practicing where we can hear those sounds.
Our new sounds this week were ng, nk and x.
This means that Set 1 sounds have all been learnt! From next week, we will be working on different things in Phonics and this will be reflected in the homework. Keep reading at home as the progress in children is very evident!
Have a great weekend,
Miss Bhambra
